360,000 women die during pregnancy and childbirth; 14 million adolescent girls become mothers every year. Women represent nearly two thirds of the world’s illiterate, 31 million girls are still out of school around the world, The completion rates and learning levels of girls are lower than those of boys, Participation of girls in school decreases as they progress through the education system, Too many girls in under developed countries like Uganda are still shut out of school, denying them their fundamental right to education.
Seeing all that, Vangrace Compassion Ministries came out to help these less fortunate women to start up small scale businesses which will help them to cater for their families. We also equip them with techniques and skills of making hand craft materials like hand bags which also support their daily lives and their entire families that they have.
This has helped a lot of women like Odongo narrates ‘I lost my husband during the war caused by LRA led by Konyi. This situation left me with my 4 children in serious grieving and suffering. But when Vangrace Compassion Ministries came, our life changed because they taught all the women in our village how to start up small business which can cater for our families. With the little money given to me by VCM, I started selling tomatoes and greens in the nearby market putting in all the skills given to me by VCM. My business grew and it has supported my family for all these years. I thank Vangrace Compassion Ministries for the Women Empowerment Program which brought joy into my family’
A lot of vulnerable women like Odongo need our help. Whatever you do, it will make the world of difference to the poorest women we work alongside, so get involved today and make a difference.
